Faced with a bumpy plane ride from NY to SF, I kept myself busy knitting this “worm” scarf with Lumpy Bumpy yarn in colorway “Storm”… How appropriate! I don’t know where the idea first came from, but here’s my version.
You need to know how to knit and bind off.
Approximately 60” long x 3 ½” wide.
One skein Lumpy Bumpy Yarn by Charlene, 4 oz, 150 yards; 99% merino, 1% nylon (available at www.purlsoho.com). Color on model is “Storm”.
Size 11 needles.
Not important.
CO – cast on
BO – bind off
st(s) – stitch(es)
CO 9 sts.
Row 1: k9.
Row 2: At beg of row, CO 4 sts as follows: k1 and leaving old st on left needle, place new st from right needle twisted onto the left needle. Repeat, always knitting into the st just created until you have added 4 new sts. (13 sts on needle). Without turning your work, BO 4 sts, k rem 9 sts.
Row 3: As row 2.
Row 4: k9.
Repeat these 4 rows until you reach 60” or desired length. BO all sts.
